About Us

Reiniger Jewelers is a third generation family-owned business. My grandfather, Cornelius, went into business in the early 1900's. There are pictures of my Grandfather and his partners dating back to 1918. His son, Eugene, was a teenager when he started working in the business. He learned jewelry and watch repair from his father.

Dad opened his first location in the Woolworth Building in East St. Louis. He was also located on Collinsville Ave. in the Murphy Building for a while. In 1968, he moved his business into his home and remained there until he retired in 1998.

I spoke with my father in 1987 about learning the jewelry business. He suggested I go to school at Gem City College in Quincy. I enrolled and received my diploma in 1988. I have also earned my GIA diamond certificate. I began my own business with repairs only. At that time, I had one employee. Business was picking up and I needed more help. I called my sister, Barbara, to see if she was interested. She started in 1991 and has been with the company since. Our first retail location was opened in 1992 in the Swansea Schnuck's Plaza. We opened our Columbia store in 1993. It is located in the Marketplace Center. My sister manages this location.

In the fall of 1998 ground was broken for our new building located just across the street. We moved into the store April 1999. The multi-level building also has rental space for four other businesses. We have three very qualified jewelers on staff, including myself. A variety of custom-made jewelry and repairs are done on site. Because Reiniger's is an established jeweler you can feel confident buying from us.

Let my family treat you like family.
